PARISH COUNCIL
The parish council is headed up by the leaders of all the ministries and groups at St Dom's. The parish council's chairman is Ashley Cameron.
ADULT INSTRUCTION
Do you want to learn more about our Catholic Faith? Do you want to become Catholic or take part in our RCIA programme? Then Martin Hughes is the person you need to speak to.
ALTAR SERVERS
This is a great ministry for the younger members of our community to get involved with. There are a number of teams who assist with the liturgy on a roster basis. Michaela Anderson heads up this team.
CATECHISM – JUNIOR (Grades 1-6)
Junior Catechism takes place every Tuesday afternoon from 3:15pm to 4:30pm. Catechists are given a programme to follow which includes lesson plans and worksheets. You don’t need to be a teacher or a saint to join this team, just a love of children and our faith to inspire and guide them. Mychelle Taylor can be contacted if you wish to join this team.
CATECHISM – SENIOR FORMATION / LIFE TEEN (Grades 7-11)
Our LifeTeen programme runs every Sunday evening during school term time from after the 5:30pm Mass until about 8:30pm. Preparations meetings for the Core Team are every Thursday evening during term time. If you have a heart for young people and would like to share your faith, then this may be where God is calling you to get involved!Mary-anne Wanliss heads up the Core Team.
CHOIR
The choir sings on the 1st and 3rd Sunday mornings of the month. If God's blessed you with a good voice then please come along and join us. Anne Collett can be contacted for further information.
COLLECTION COUNTING
If you’d like to help out with counting the money from our weekend Masses, please contact Shirley Browning.
FAMILY LIFE COMMITTEE
This committee is involved with supporting all the aspects of family life. If you’re keen to join this group or are able to help with counselling, please contact Jan Kalinowski .
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Carol Van Laun heads up this which meets once a month to review and discuss the financial matters of our parish.
FLOWER ARRANGERS
If you have been blessed with the talent for arranging flowers – or you’re willing to learn – you may wish to join this group by contactingBev Wortmann.
FOLK GROUP
The music sung by the folk group is slightly less traditional, lively and very moving! If you'd like to join this group which sings during the 8am Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, please contact Mary Ann Wanliss.
LADIES FELLOWSHIP GROUP
This group of women meet weekly to share their faith in a relaxed atmosphere at one of the ladies’ homes or at a coffee shop. Please contact Annabelle Meaker should you want more information.
LADIES GUILD
This ladies group is a valuable group in our parish – they tend to ‘housekeeping’ in the parish as well as being responsible for First Communion, Confirmation and funeral teas. They also visit patients at Don Makenzie & Hillcrest Hospitals. If you’re interested in joining this group – Michelle Uren can assist you.
LITURGY
Mass preparations and music are some of the areas that fall under the wing of the liturgy committee. Should you wish to join this group, please contact Katia Benedetti.
MAINTENANCE GROUP
Parishioners who have knowledge in the fields of plumbing, building, carpentry, painting and electrical work are invited share their skills through this group to maintain our wonderful facilities. If you are able to give some time to help with weekly maintenance, this group is also for you. Allen Montile heads up this group.
OUTREACH
This is a great group in which you can live out our calling to serve the community. This team visits the elderly, sick and lonely of the parish, as well as providing meals and helping out at Hillcrest Hospital. If you wish to give of your time in this way, please contact Marilyn Daly.
POVERTY, AIDS & UNEMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
The members of this committee seek to give practical expression of their faith through uplifting and empowering needy members of the community. They work very closely with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in starting drop-in centres and sewing groups, helping selected individuals with school fees and clothing, and supporting the parish nurse programme. Pat Chadwick runs this committee.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP TEAM
The praise and worship band lead our music during Mass on Sunday evenings with a variety of contemporary songs. They're always looking for musicians and singers so if you'd like to join them, please contact Sean Lategan.
PRE-BAPTISM COURSE
This is run by Steve & Maureen Simpson who can be contacted on for further details.
READERS
This ministry is for all those people who can proclaim the word loud and clear! Michele Uren is responsible for all the readers in the parish.
REPOSITORY
This is open after all Masses over the weekend. Volunteers are needed to assist with running of the repository. If you can help with this ministry, please contact Robynne Lott at the parish office.
SACRISTANS
This dedicated team is responsible for preparing the sacristy and sanctuary for Mass. If you’d like to join this group on a roster basis, please contact Karla Lott.
SOCIAL LIFE
Social activities of our parish provide a great place for everyone, old and young alike, to mix and get to know each other – building a greater sense of community. If you’re enthusiastic, fun loving and committed please consider joining this important committee by contacting Maggie & Leon Raymakers.
SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL
This society cares for the less privileged members of our parish, sister parishes and surrounding community. Some of their main functions include packing and providing food parcels, setting up self-help programmes such as vegetable gardens, and providing clothes and blankets. If you’d like further information, Helen Bellew is your lady to speak to.
SPIRITUAL LIFE
If you join this group, you’ll be involved with exploring ways in which our parish can provide ongoing formation in our Catholic Faith and looking for opportunities to grow in our personal faith. This committee is currently responsible for the weekly ‘CaFE' programme on a Thursday evening. Please contact Mike Buckle for further information.
TEA & COFFEE AFTER MASS
Volunteers serve tea and coffee after the Sunday morning or Sunday evening Masses on the weekends. Meals are also served by our high school parents after Mass on a Sunday night before Life Teen. If you’d like to help in either of these areas, please contact Pam Montile at the parish office.
USHERS
Should you wish to be an usher in our parish, some of the ways you will serve our community will be by handing out bulletins and welcoming people to Mass, taking the collections during and helping with Offertory during Mass, and helping parishioners to find seats. Please contact Linda for this ministry.
WELCOMING COMMITTEE & CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP
This team is responsible for welcoming all our new parishioners and visitors. If you’re friendly and would like to be a part of this important team, please contact Steve Simpson.
YOUNG ADULTS CELL GROUPS
There are currently two young adults’ cell groups running in our parish. These faith sharing groups meet weekly on a Wednesday evening for a great time of community, singing and sharing our faith. Sean Lategan can be contacted if you wish to join one of these groups.
