Sunday Mass: What's The Time?

January 25th
"What time is it?"
We can answer that question by reporting the information we see on our wristwatch, wall clock, cell phone, computer, or other device that indicates the time of day. Checking one of those devices we might say it is 6 am, 2:45 pm, 9:30 pm, or whatever the exact time might be.

Sunday Mass: The First Question

January 18th
When Jesus sees them, he asks, "What are you looking for?" While the question has an obvious meaning, namely, why are following me, it also has a deeper meaning. In the Gospel for this Sunday (John 1:35-42), John the Baptist is standing with Andrew and another disciple. As John sees Jesus walk by he says, "Behold, the Lamb of God."

Sunday Mass: Beloved Words

January 11th
In this Sunday's Gospel (Mark 1:7-11), Jesus hears such words from his heavenly Father. After being baptized by John, Jesus hears a voice from on high proclaim, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." With those words God the Father expresses his love and pride in his Son. With those words of love and affirmation ringing in his ears, and with the power of the Spirit that comes upon him, Jesus begins his public ministry.
